Diane W <DianeMWylie>

Historical romance author, Diane Wylie, loves books that will take her on an emotional roller coaster ride. What better genre than romance to do that? She has always particularly loved historical romances for their dashing heroes and beautiful heroines.

Since watching Gone With the Wind as a child, she has had an avid interest in the American Civil War. This interest comes to bear in her acclaimed novel, "Secrets and Sacrifices," along with short story, "A Soldier to Love." Two more Civil War romances will be released soon--in November 2008, "Jenny's Passion" and in March 2009, "Lila's Vow." Fast-paced, action-packed romance is my favorite kind to write.

Diane makes her home in Maryland with her husband, Ed, a former racecar driver, and two wonderful children. During the day Diane is an award-winning technical writer for a military contractor in Maryland.

Review by Romantic Times Book Reviews - Donna Brow
This heartfelt drama delivers tension, passion, hope and fear. The heroine begins in the guise of a boy but grows into a passionate, caring woman who meets her soul mate after losing her husband. The research is meticulous, and a grand cast of characters leaps off the page. This is one for the keeper shelf. Summary: Charlotte "Charlie" Garrett follows her husband into battle for the South. After Josh is killed, she continues as a sharpshooter, becoming a better shot than many of the men. One evening she finds a private place to bathe and is discovered and attacked. Captain Daniel Reid, a Confederate doctor, uncovers her disguise when he rescues her. This chance meeting connects the lives of not only Daniel and Charlie but also of their families. He smuggles drugs and supplies from the North and she's involved in the Underground Railroad. There are renewed requests to re-enlist in the conflict and betrayal from someone unexpected. (Vintage Romance, Sep. '06, 352 pp., $17.29)

Look who is on www.RomanceNovels.tv!
One of the highlights of October is the New Jersey Romance Writer's Conference. I love spending some time with my writer friends. We talk about our latest triumphs and rejections in the world of romance writing. We also attended some great workshops. You can never stop learning, no matter how long you have been writing. I always pick up something new to use in my stories.

On the last day I was interviewed by www.romancenovels.tv! Click the link for a picture of me with my mouth open and the microphone in front of me! http://romancetv.web.aplus.net/TMPne... Hey, what happened to the soft lighting and touchups? ;)

New Look and Bestsellers!
Check out my publisher's new look. Vintage Romance Publishing has updated their website: http://www.vrpublishing.com. They added a Bestseller list too.

Look whose book is number 2--mine! "Secrets and Sacrifices" is listed as Vintage Romance's second bestseller! WooHoo! This comes on the heels of being Vintage's bestselling ebook at Fictionwise. Not bad--spots 1 and 2!

Going near Frederick, Maryland?
I hope you can come out to a great historical event on the actual site of a Civil War encampment. Rose Hill Manor in Frederick, Maryland played host to troops from both the Confederate and Union armies in September 1862 and July 1863. They will relive that time with living history reenactments and demonstrations, plus a live battle!

I will be there with copies of my books. I hope to see you there!
